robot yang tercipta diakhir 2011

The Durango Discovery Museum is one of the first institutions with this amazing robotics construction kit.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011 we are the privileged hosts of young robotics entrepreneur Eric Schweikardt, founder of Modular Robotics in Boulder, Colo.
Eric will be demonstrating "cubelets," Modular Robotic's newest robot invention and the company's first robotic kits.
Modular Robotics makes robot construction kits for kids. The company philosophy maintains that toys shape the way children think about the world. We agree!
Come explore Eric's cubelets, then get crazy and build some robots that drive around on tabletops; respond to light, sound, and temperature; and have surprisingly lifelike behavior. Best of all: No programming is involved!
RobotsWeb.jpgSchedule of events:
  • 2-4pm: Informal question-and-answer period and a presentation on programming.
  • 4-5pm: A rockin' demonstration of Eric's cool robots!
  • 5-6pm: Robotics workshop and post Q&A session.
This event is FREE and is scheduled for the Mensch Spark Shop inside the museum. Experience with electronics or programming are not necessary—and ALL AGES ARE INVITED.

Astronomy: Past, Present + Future
What's the current state of astronomy? What are the latest tools of the trade? How can you get involved in this galactic star party? Join us for a three-day event at the Powerhouse when astronomy science extraordinaire Doug Summers takes center stage. Scheduled includes:

June 9, 6-7pm: Astronomy's Golden Age — Tonight's topic includes a brief history of observational astronomy as well as some exciting recent science discoveries. We'll tour objects in space, starting in close then moving to deep-space structures to present the dramatic evolution of our knowledge of the universe.
July 7, 6-7pmBIG Optical Telescopes — Discover the world's largest optical/infrared telescopes, especially the two 10-meter 'scopes at Hawaii's Keck Observatory. We'll review large ground-based research observatories and how they cope with atmospheric distortions using Adaptive Optics and Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics.
Aug. 30, 7-8pm: Build Your Own Scope + Star Party  Bring your own telescope tonight! We'll discuss what's involved in building a personal telescope, followed by a "star party" look at the universe — staged from the Powerhouse Plaza. A high-powered green laser will point out constellations and entice mythological fodder about the diamond-studded sky.

All workshops are scheduled in the Powerhouse Theater. Age focus is high school students and older, however anyone with a love for telescopes and astronomy is invited, and it's totally FREE.
